Biggest ever confiscation of drugs, money, gold, liquor in the 75th yrs of election history, informs Election Commission of India

New Delhi, April 15: The Election Commission has so far seized โ‚น 4650 crore in the country during the general elections. This is the biggest seizure in the 75 years of election history.

The Commission apprised that the action will continue at the same pace in future too

According to the Election Commission data, so far โ‚น 395.39 crore in cash, โ‚น 489.31 crore of liquor, โ‚น 2068.85 crore of drugs, โ‚น 562.10 crore of gold and free material worth โ‚น 1142.49 crore have been seized. This time there has been more seizure of drugs and free material as compared to the last general elections.

Even before the first phase of voting for the 18th Lok Sabha elections began on Friday, enforcement agencies have made a record seizure of more than โ‚น 4650 crore in ECI’s determined fight against money power, according to a statement issued by the Commission. Rs 3475 crore was seized during the entire 2019 elections. 45 percent of the seizures are of drugs and intoxicants, on which the Commission has special attention.
