New Delhi, 28 August: After the report of Justice Hema Committee, which investigated the incidents of sexual exploitation and harassment of women in the Malayalam film industry, came out, there has been a political stir there. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called this report serious and demanded action against the culprits.
Talking to the media on the Hema Committee report, BJP leader Rajiv Chandrashekhar said that the fundamental right of every woman in India is a safe workplace. The Prime Minister has done a lot in the last 10 years for women’s empowerment. But more work needs to be done regarding women’s safety in places like Kerala and West Bengal. The Hema Committee’s report is a shocking revelation that women working in the Kerala film industry are being exploited and harassed. This is not an issue that can be suppressed by the Pinarayi Vijayan government. These claims should be investigated impartially and the culprits should not be spared.
It is noteworthy that after the Justice Hema Committee report, now the victim actresses are also coming forward to tell their stories. Meanwhile, another actress has made serious allegations against people associated with the industry and the leader of the Marxist party.
