Lucknow, 22 April: Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, claimed on Saturday that his government has improved openness in the recruiting process, which was formerly plagued by nepotism and casteism. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 24th national conference of chairpersons of State Public Service Commissions here, he said that under previous state governments, 1.5 lakh posts remained unfilled because the Supreme Court stayed recruitment due to complaints about lack of transparency.

“There were a lot of complaints about Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, Subordinate Services Selection Commission, Higher Education Selection Commission, and Secondary Education Selection Commission examinations when we took over the state in 2017,” he remarked.

“To the point where the court’s intervention was sought to halt many recruitment exams. The court had also made severe remarks in several circumstances. I instructed authorities to correct whatever flaws they found. Previously, the recruiting procedure was opaque. Nepotism and casteism dominated the recruitment process, and meritorious and talented candidates were treated unfairly,” he claimed.

According to the chief minister, the government organised a team of honest employees to maintain openness in the hiring process. Recruitment organisations, whether the union Public Service Commission or State Public Service Commissions, play an important function in an ideal society. He claims that in the previous six years, the government has made over 5,00,000 appointments without a single question being asked about any of them.

He, on the other hand, said that the number of appointments was insufficient for a state with a population of 25 crore. The chief minister stated that because many young people are hesitant to work for the government, the state created the “One District, One Product” project to encourage entrepreneurship and the distinctive goods of each of its 75 districts.

Because of the improved law and order situation, the state has attracted a lot of investment.

From February 10 to 12, the state hosted the Global Investors Summit, which got investment offers worth Rs 35 lakh crore, he added. He stated that a groundbreaking ceremony for projects worth Rs 10 lakh crore will be held shortly.
