Lucknow, 23 December: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on the Vidhan Bhavan premises on Friday.
The birthday of Chaudhary Charan Singh, who was always devoted to the welfare of farmers, is celebrated as Kisan Samman Diwas on December 23.
Chief Minister Yogi flagged off tractors to be given to Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in front of Vidhan Bhawan.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Yogi said that Chaudhary Charan Singh had made it clear that India will grow only with the progress of farmers and improvement in agriculture. He was a true farmers leader because he worked throughout his life for the farmers. Today Centre and State Governments are doing the same which he had dreamt of.
Yogi tweeted, ?Humble tribute to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary, a great farmer leader, an icon of purity and simplicity.? In the same tweet, wishing everyone a Happy Farmer’s Day, he said, “Chaudhary Charan Singh fought for the welfare of the oppressed, deprived, neglected and food-giving farmer brothers throughout his life.”
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Singh, Cabinet Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Forest Minister Arun Kumar Saxena, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dinesh Pratap Singh, Minister of State for Agriculture Baldev Singh Aulakh etc. were present.
Te State President of RLD’s business cell has written a letter to the President of India, demanding Bharat Ratna be given to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.
Rohit Agarwal, State President of Rashtriya Lok Dal Business Cell, wrote a letter to the President urging her to give Bharat Ratna to Chaudhary Charan Singh. He said that former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh fought for the oppressed and deprived sections of people throughout his life. Whenever Chaudhary Saheb got the opportunity, he worked with all his might for the farmers and the backward class people.
Chaudhary Charan Singh had the distinction of becoming the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Home Minister, Finance Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Prime Minister of the country. Born on 23 December 1902 in Hapur district of western Uttar Pradesh, Choudhary died on 23 May 1987. His birth anniversary is celebrated on 23 December as ‘Farmer’s Day’.
