Hyderabad, 22 Oct: According to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state chief and union minister Kishan Reddy, the party’s suspension of Telangana MLA Raja Singh has been lifted.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lifted the suspension of Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh on Sunday, October 22, only days before Telangana elections.

This is also extremely close to the expected announcement of the party’s initial list of candidates.

Om Pathak, member secretary of the saffron party’s Central Disciplinary Committee, wrote to Goshamahal MLA, saying that Raja Singh’s response and explanation “have been considered by the committee. On this basis, the committee has decided to immediately lift your suspension,” it said.

The outspoken MLA, renowned for his Islamophobic comments, was suspended after being detained in August of last year for uttering ‘blasphemous’ insults about Prophet Muhammad. He shot these recordings in opposition to the city’s police permitting comedian Munawar Farooqui to perform show in August 2022.

Raja Singh was later detained under the PD Act. The police arrested him for violating Indian Penal Code sections 153A (promoting enmity between different communities), 295 (injuring or defiling a place of worship with the aim to insult the religion), and 505 (public mischief).

In response to the news, Raja Singh hailed the party’s senior leadership, which included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, national head
J P Nadda, union home minister Amit Shah, and state leaders.

The BJP released its initial list of 52 candidates for the November 30 state assembly elections, which included three Lok Sabha MPs, including its former Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday.

The BJP has also awarded T Raja Singh, its fiery Hindutva leader, a ticket from his Goshamahal constituency after lifting his suspension earlier today, which was imposed last year for allegedly insulting Prophet Mohammad.

Its election committee head, Etela Rajender, has been nominated from Huzurabad, a seat held by the former BRS leader in the current legislature. Kumar is running from Karimnagar, while Soyam Bapu Rao and Dharmapuri Arvind are running from Boath and Koratla, respectively. The state is home to four Lok Sabha members for the BJP.

G Kishan Reddy, a union minister and the party’s state president, is another MP whose name does not appear on the initial list.

The BJP is working hard to establish itself as the major opponent to the ruling BRS, but the Congress is also fighting hard.
