Mumbai, 06 December: Kalidas Kolambkar, MLA from Wadala Assembly constituency of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who was elected for the 9th consecutive time, took oath as the Protem Speaker on Friday.
Kolambkar was administered the oath of office and secrecy as the temporary Speaker of the Assembly by Governor CP Radhakrishnan. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council Neel Gorhe were present on this occasion.
Kalidas Kolambkar will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected MLAs during the three-day special session of the Assembly on December 7, 8 and 9. Along with this, all these MLAs will elect the new Speaker of the Assembly. Kalidas Kolambkar’s responsibility will end after the election of the new Speaker of the Assembly.
Kalidas Kolambkar has made a record of becoming MLA for 9 consecutive times by winning the election on BJP ticket from Wadala seat of Mumbai this year. From 1990 to 2004, he contested assembly elections from Shiv Sena and won the elections.
When Narayan Rane became the Chief Minister in Maharashtra, Kalidas Kolambkar got a chance to become a Minister of State. After this, in 2005, Kolambar joined the Congress party along with former Chief Minister Narayan Rane. Kalidas Kolambkar left the Congress party in 2014 and joined the BJP. Kalidas Kolambkar has contested and won elections from the same assembly constituency nine times in a row from 1990 to 2024.
