Kurukshetra/New Delhi, September 14: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in an election rally in Kurukshetra on Saturday that BJP’s hat-trick of victory in Haryana is certain.

Addressing his first rally for Haryana elections, Prime Minister Modi called upon the people to support BJP for the third consecutive time in the upcoming state assembly elections. He said, “I have once again come to this holy land to seek your support to form a BJP government. You have given me the opportunity to serve in Delhi for the third consecutive time and the enthusiasm I am seeing here today makes it clear that BJP’s hat-trick is certain.”

Modi said enthusiastically that the people of Haryana are known for being firm on their words and BJP has also learned the same. We fulfill whatever promise we make. He said that just a few days ago, we have taken a big decision, which will benefit lakhs of families in Haryana. The BJP government has decided that all senior citizens above the age of 70 will now get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. We had said that the first 100 days of the BJP government will be of big decisions. In less than 100 days, we have launched projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore and sanctioned 3 crore houses for the underprivileged, giving them not just a home but a permanent address, a launchpad for their dreams.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted the BJP’s governance record and mentioned the recent initiatives aimed at benefiting farmers, the poor, the youth and women. The Prime Minister compared the BJP’s record with the Congress and criticised its performance in neighbouring state Himachal Pradesh. He said, “Haryana’s neighbour is Himachal Pradesh, where the Congress formed the government a few years ago. However, no one is happy in Himachal Pradesh now and the Congress made false promises to every section of society there. Congress has not fulfilled even a single promise and government employees are forced to go on strike for their salaries.”

Prime Minister Modi left no stone unturned in criticising the opposition and said, “Congress has never cared about people’s problems. No party has been so dishonest and deceitful. People who trusted Congress are now regretting it. Look at Karnataka and Telangana, Congress’ lies have reached there too. Their only agenda is to empty public treasury to win elections. Look at the condition of Punjab. People of Haryana should keep such parties away from power.”

Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, the Prime Minister said, โ€œIn just a few months of Congress rule in Karnataka, about 1,200 farmers committed suicide because they did not get any help during drought. Yet here in Haryana, the Congress is making false promises. When the country exposed their lies, they stopped talking about the old pension scheme. In contrast, the BJP has launched a new pension scheme guaranteeing a secure future for employees. Government employees have welcomed this scheme wholeheartedly.โ€

Referring to the incident of disruption of Ganesh Puja in Karnataka, the Prime Minister said that for the Congress, appeasement is their only agenda. Lord Ganesha is also being insulted under the Congress rule in Karnataka. He said, โ€œFor the Congress, appeasement is the biggest goal. Today, the situation has become such that under the Congress rule, even Ganpati ji is being put behind bars in Karnataka. The whole country is celebrating Ganesh Utsav today and the Congress is also disrupting the worship of Vighnaharta.โ€

On the issue of reservation, the Prime Minister said, โ€œRemember, when Nehru was the Prime Minister, he opposed reservation, claiming that recruitment through reservation would reduce the quality of government services. Indira Gandhi also stopped OBC reservation and the Mandal Commission was not formed until the Janata Party came to power. But when the Congress returned, they buried the report. Rajiv Gandhi also opposed OBC reservation and insulted the community. Even today the Congress continues with its royal family agenda against reservation. But let me make one thing clear, as long as Modi is here, not even an iota of Dr. Ambedkar’s reservation policy will be robbed. SC/ST/OBC reservation is here to stay forever.โ€

Prime Minister Modi said, โ€œThe Congress family is the biggest anti-OBC, ST and SC; they have always hated Babasaheb Ambedkar. Who knows the anti-Dalit stance of Congress better than Haryana? Whenever Congress forms government in Haryana, Dalits have to face difficulties.โ€
