Shimla, June 17: The main opposition BJP will hold a state-wide protest today (Saturday) against the brutal murder of Hindu Dalit youth Manohar in the Kihar area of Saloni sub-division of Chamba district.
A memorandum will be handed over to the Governor through the respective District Deputy Commissioners after the protests in each district headquarters by the BJP.
State BJP President Rajeev Bindal will participate in the demonstration to be held at Sirmaur district headquarters in Nahan. A large number of BJP workers and leaders will participate in the demonstration in all the district headquarters. The police administration is alert about this.
In fact, yesterday the Chamba administration did not allow Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur and State BJP President Rajeev Bindal to meet the victim’s family. After this, the BJP announced a statewide protest.
They have been stopped by the police at Chamera Dam. Angered by this action of the police, other BJP leaders, including Jairam Thakur and Rajeev Bindal, sat on a dharna.
Manohar was brutally killed by a family from a Muslim community. The killers cut his dead body into several pieces. This enraged Hindu organisations. Manohar was the only son in his family. An angry mob set two houses of the accused on fire on Thursday.
People are demanding justice for the victim’s family and the hanging of the accused. The opposition is continuously targeting the government regarding this massacre. The Leader of Opposition, Jairam Thakur, has raised the demand for an NIA probe into the Manohar murder case.
On the other hand, the ruling Congress government of the state is accusing the opposition of giving political colour to the matter.
Principal Media Advisor to Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Naresh Chauhan, has said that the criminals involved in the murder case have been arrested. Despite this, the BJP is giving political weight to this issue.
