Lucknow, June 23: Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has once again declared her nephew Akash Anand as her successor by restoring him to the post of national coordinator of the party.

Mayawati made this announcement in the presence of key officials during a review meeting on the reasons for the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections at the party office in Lucknow on Sunday. A day earlier, Akash was appointed star campaigner for the by-election in Uttarakhand. His name was second in the list after Mayawati.

BSP leader and party candidate from Lucknow Lok Sabha seat Sarwar Malik told the media that Mayawati has again made Akash her successor. Akash’s post of national coordinator has also been restored. He will tour the country and submit a report to Behenji.

Malik said that BSP, which contested the Lok Sabha elections on its own, had to face a crushing defeat. Mayawati called a meeting to review this. Her nephew Akash also participated in it. When Akash touched his aunt Mayawati’s feet, she blessed him by placing her hand on his head.

He said that the results of the Lok Sabha elections were not as expected. Behenji reviewed all those results by holding a meeting with workers and officials for about two and a half hours.

On May 07, Mayawati removed nephew Akash from the post of her political successor. Akash was announced to be removed from all the major posts of the party saying that he is being relieved from these duties until he matures.

The BSP chief declared Akash as her successor in December last year. During the recent Lok Sabha election campaign, a case was registered against Akash for violating the model code of conduct for using objectionable language in a rally in Sitapur. After this, Mayawati took this decision.
