New Delhi, December 16: The Central Government has approved the auction of 2251.25 MHz spectrums for about four lakh crore in the month of March next year.
On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet approved the proposal of the Ministry of Telecom under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Union Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, while giving information about the decisions of the cabinet, said that the spectrum auction was done in 2016. The current auction process will be conducted under the same criteria and procedure. Its notification will be released within a month and the auction process will take place in March 2021.
Prasad said that spectrum would be auctioned in the frequency bands of 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz and 2500 MHz for a period of next 20 years. The total estimated value of this spectrum of 2251.25 MHz is 3, 92,332.70 crore.
