New Delhi, 27 February: The Union Cabinet has approved the changes suggested by the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) in the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 recently.
Sources said that after this, the bill will be introduced for discussion and passage in the second part of the budget session of Parliament. It includes most of the changes, which were recommended by the JPC headed by BJP MP Jagdambika Pal on February 19. The second part of the budget session will begin from March 10.
The report on JPC was presented in both the houses of Parliament on February 13. Out of the 44 amendments introduced during the committee’s proceedings, the panel accepted 14 changes suggested by NDA members through division of votes.
