Lakhimpur Kheri, 23 Aug (HS): A lawsuit has been filed in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district in response to a viral video depicting some government-allocated books being sold at a scrap store. On Tuesday, a video went popular on social media, and police filed a complaint the same day, stating that the video had harmed “the image of the Basic Education Department, government, and administration.”

BEO (Paliyan Kalan) Nagendra Choudhary said in his police complaint, “… A video is going viral in which a standing truck and some books in sacks are seen. Along with the video, it is claimed that government-issued books are being sold as junk. The aforementioned occurrence has harmed the reputation of the Basic Education Department, the government, and the administration.”

BEO Choudhary stated that when he went to a junk store after the video went viral, he was unable to discover any books. “A separate bundle of books for free distribution was kept. I didn’t locate it when I went to the same scrap shop. I’m not sure who shot the video. I’ve given the mobile number from which I obtained the viral video,” he explained.

When asked who sent him the video, he said, “Whoever sent it. It will be investigated.”

“We are investigating the case,” stated Station House Officer Pramod Kumar Mishra. ?We’re not interested in who created the video, but rather in where the books originated from. We’re looking into who got the books and how they got there (scrap store).”

When asked about BEO Choudhary’s allegation that the books were not discovered at the scrap shop, Mishra replied, “You should ask him (Choudhary) about that.” In the video, you can see the books. So far, I haven’t located the books,” he claimed. The case was filed against unnamed individuals at the Paliyan police station under Indian Penal Code section 420 (cheating and dishonesty).
