CBI judge suspended on graft charges

Chandigarh, 28 April: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday evening suspended Special CBI Court Judge Sudhir Parmar. The High Court has taken this decision after taking permission from the Supreme Court. The High Court has appointed Rajeev Goyal, Additional Sessions Judge, Gurugram, as the new Special Judge of the CBI.

Recently the ACB team raided Sudhir Parmar’s house and office. The matter was suppressed and could not come to the fore but the High Court took strict cognizance of it and took action to suspend Parmar.

A special judge of the CBI court in Panchkula, Parmar was on the target of the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau in a corruption case.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court, while filing an application in the Supreme Court in this matter, appealed that they be allowed to transfer Judge Sudhir Parmar of the special CBI court set up to deal with pending cases.

The Supreme Court, while hearing the application of the High Court, accepted it and allowed the transfer. The Punjab-Haryana High Court suspended Sudhir Parmar and appointed Additional District and Sessions Judge, Gurugram, Rajeev Goyal.
