Lucknow, 30 November: Irregularities and use of substandard materials in the construction of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) built around the border of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, were confirmed. After this, an FIR was lodged against two companies. Now the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started investigation in this matter. Members of the CBI investigating team have seized many important documents from the office of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
The tender for the Outer Ring Road was done in Lucknow some time ago which was won by M/s Sadbhav Engineering Limited Company located in Naurangpur, Gujarat State. Sadbhav Engineering Limited did not complete the work within the stipulated period. On September 14 2022, NHAI terminated the agreement.
The construction work of the Outer Ring Road was given to Gawar Construction Company of Gurgaon by the unit of NHAI. Both the companies did the work of the Outer Ring Road. Even then, irregularities were found in the work of Outer Ring Road. Within a year, potholes started appearing on the Outer Ring Road and the tar was peeling off.
An FIR was registered against both the companies in the above case. The investigation of which has been handed over to the CBI. When the eight-member CBI team started the investigation, it took away the files related to the case from the NHAI office located in Vibhuti Khand. Only after examining the files, the CBI will question the NHAI, people of both the companies, and local contractors on the basis of facts. Till then, the passports of the top people of both the companies have been confiscated and they have been barred from going outside the country.
