New Delhi, August 19: The Supreme Court has ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the suicide case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
A bench of Justice Hrishikesh Rai directed the Mumbai Police to hand over all the evidence related to the case to the CBI.
The court said that the Bihar government has the right to hand over the investigation to the CBI.
The court directed the CBI to investigate any other cases registered in Sushant Singh’s case in future as well.
The court reserved the judgment on 11 August last.
In this case, the Bihar government had said that only one First Information Report (FIR) was registered in the suicide case of late actor Sushant Singh, which has been registered by the Patna Police.
The Bihar government had said that if the CBI is investigating this case, then Rhea Chakraborty’s petition to transfer the FIR to Mumbai no longer has any meaning.
The Maharashtra government had said that the FIR lodged in Patna is illegal and has been filed with the wrong intent.
The CBI had said that there is no case pending in Mumbai.
The CBI had said that CBI and ED should be allowed to continue the investigation.
The Bihar government had said that no FIR has been registered by the Mumbai Police in the case. The only FIR in this case has been registered in Bihar.
Now the investigation has gone to the CBI. Therefore, Rhea’s demand to transfer the matter from Patna to Mumbai has become baseless.
In the written argument filed by main the accused Rhea Chakravarty it was said that there is no basis for registering FIR in Patna. The court of Patna has no basis for hearing the case. On behalf of the actress, it was said that handing over the investigation to CBI on the recommendation of Bihar is wrong. The apprehensions raised in the FIR do not reveal any cognizable offense.
In a written plea in the Supreme Court, Sushant’s father KK Singh had said that the Patna police had the right to register an FIR. Transfer could have taken place after completion of investigation.
He had said that he had tried to talk to Sushant many times while living in Patna.
Late actor’s father KK Singh had said that Rhea had spoken of a CBI inquiry. Mumbai police investigation is not trusted because they did not register an FIR even after the post-mortem.
The Maharashtra government had said that the FIR lodged in Patna is illegal. It has been wrongly recorded.
The Maharashtra government had said that there was no basis for handing over the investigation to the CBI. The Supreme Court cannot submit a single bench investigation to the CBI.
The Maharashtra government has demanded transfer of the case to Mumbai Police.
The CBI had said that there is no case pending in Mumbai. The FIR was not registered after the initial investigation into the accidental death. There is no legal basis for recording the statements of 56 people in this case.
The CBI sought permission to release the investigation of the case to the CBI and the ED.
