New Delhi, March 28: The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) said on Friday that the regional offices of Central GST (CGST) will also remain open on 29, 30 and 31 March. The current financial year is ending on 31 March.
This instruction issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) comes after a similar instruction was issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) regarding the offices of the Income Tax Department, so that the pending departmental work can be completed.
In the instructions given by CBIC to the Chief Commissioners, it has been said that all the regional offices of CGST will remain open on 29, 30 and 31 March and these will be considered as working days.” It is worth mentioning that March 31 is the last day of the current financial year.
Therefore, all government payments and settlements related to this financial year have to be completed by the same day.
Apart from this, March 31 is also the last date for filing updated income tax returns for the assessment year 2023-24. In such a situation, Income Tax and CGST offices across the country will remain open despite the weekend and Eid-ul-Fitr, which may fall on Monday.
