Centre bans 22 illegal betting apps, including Mahadev app

Delhi, 6 November: The central government has banned 22 illegal betting apps and websites, including Mahadev Book and ReddyAnnaPrestoPro. The government has issued this order at the request of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology issued an order late last night to ban 22 illegal betting platforms, including Mahadev Book and ReddyAnnaPrestoPro.

The Central Investigation Agency (ED had recommended it to the Central Government after raiding and investigating Mahadev Book in Chhattisgarh.

Union Minister of State for Information and Technology Rajeev Chandrashekhar said in a statement that the Chhattisgarh government did not request to ban these platforms despite having the right to do so.

Chandrashekhar said the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued orders to ban 22 illegal betting apps and websites, including Mahadev Book and ReddyAnnaPrestoPro.

The Mahadev App case, ED has seized cash worth about ?5 crore from Chhattisgarh. In a statement issued last week, the Central Investigation Agency claimed that the promoters of the Mahadev betting app have given ₹ 508 crore to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

In this case, the ED has arrested Chhattisgarh Police constables Bhim Singh Yadav and Aseem Das on charges of money laundering. Earlier in September, ED seized assets worth ?417 crore related to the Mahadev App.
