New Delhi, June 26: Giving relief to 45 lakh beneficiaries of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), the Central Government has now banned the mandatory linking of CGHS card with Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA). This arrangement will continue till the next order of the Central Government.

Actually, most of the CGHS beneficiaries were not very enthusiastic about linking their ID with Ayushman Bharat Health Account (Abha). Therefore, the process of linking ABHA and CGHS card was going very slow.

On Wednesday, the Directorate General of Central Government Health Scheme ‘CGHS’ under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued an order that now it is not mandatory to link CGHS card with Ayushman Bharat Health Account (Abha). It is voluntary and optional. This arrangement will continue till further orders.

It is noteworthy that under this campaign which started from March 28, till May, only 1.5 lakh beneficiaries have created Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) number and linked it with CGHS. The government has extended the deadline for creating ‘ABHA’ for three months from June 30. Then a deadline of 120 days was set for linking the ID with Abha.
