New Delhi, June 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that the government has increased the risk and hardship allowance of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) by 40 percent of their basic pay. Union Home Minister Amit Shah
said at the flag-in ceremony of NDRF mountaineering expedition Vijay that I want to give you a good news. For a long time there was a demand to increase the risk and hardship allowance for NDRF personnel. Just yesterday the Government of India has approved it and now you will be given risk and hardship allowance at the rate of 40 percent. This is a matter of happiness for all 16,000 NDRF rescue workers.
Amit Shah also said that a roadmap is being prepared for the participation of Central Armed Police Forces like CRPF, BSF, ITBP and CISF in national and international sports events. He said, “We have also decided that a team of our CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) will participate in international competition in all national and international outdoor and indoor sports. Its roadmap has been prepared and in a short time we will take it forward.
Union Minister Shah praised the NDRF and said that the whole country and the world depends on it in times of disasters. He said that today whenever there is a disaster anywhere not only in India but in the whole world, people look towards the NDRF. No matter how adverse the situation is, if a soldier in NDRF uniform is standing there, the morale of the people trapped in the disaster increases manifold.
Shah congratulated the NDRF for its successful ‘mountain climbing’ campaign Vijay and said that it may be a passion for some people and for some it is just a duty. But, such campaigns strengthen both the individual and the group. This makes us get used to achieving goals and winning. He said that the habit of victory makes both the individual and the force great.
On this occasion, Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, NDRF Director General Piyush Anand, National Disaster Management Authority member Rajendra Singh, Home Department Additional Secretary Sanjeev Kumar Jindal were present.
