Lucknow, 22 April: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati on Tuesday attacked the central and state governments over the insult of great men and atrocities on Dalits.
She said that Dr Ambedkar’s name is taken only to get votes of Dalits, but he is not given due respect. Society should be cautious of such selfish governments.
The BSP chief wrote on X that this time on Dr Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, his statues have been disrespected in many states of the country. Many people were killed in attacks by feudal elements on programs and processions. Such incidents are extremely shameful and this shows the double character of governments.
Referring to the incident in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, she said that there was an attack during the Ambedkar procession. In this, one Dalit died and many people were injured. No action has been taken against the culprits till now. Due to this, the state government is also in the dock for its involvement in this.
She said that the central and state governments should take cognizance of the incidents of atrocities on Dalits and insult to great saints and great men and take strict action. Stop this, otherwise the people of these classes will never forgive them.
Mayawati said that it is clear from such casteist incidents that the programs organized by the central and state governments on Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s birth anniversary etc. are all a complete deception for the selfish purpose of Dalit votes. Dalit society must be cautious of such parties with double standards, character and face.
