Lucknow, 20 February: During patrolling late Wednesday night in PGI police station area, police intercepted a suspect and tried to stop him. Instead of stopping, he ran away on a motorcycle and started firing at the police team. However, in the retaliatory action of the police, the youth was injured by the bullet. On getting information about the incident, police officials reached the spot and started investigation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Shashank Singh said that late night, the police of PGI police station was checking vehicles near Vrindavan Chowki Sector Number 14 Uttaretia Station. During this, on seeing a suspicious man riding a bike, the police asked him to stop. Instead of stopping, he started firing while running away on his motorcycle. Police fired in retaliation, in which he got injured. The man was shot in his leg, he was arrested and sent to Trauma Center for treatment.
During interrogation, he told his name as Lukman, resident of Siddheshwar Nagar, Sitapur. He admitted that on February 13, he had looted the chain from Richa Shukla, who lives in Vrindavan Colony. He also had a partner in this act.
He also confessed to committing another chain looting incident. Police recovered an illegal pistol with live cartridges and an empty cartridge, looted chain etc. from him.
