New Delhi, 21 September: Chandrayaan 3’s Vikram lander and Pragyan rover, which were deactivated on the lunar surface, will be activated once again on Saturday.
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) plans to reactivate both of them on September 23. Vikram Lander was sent to sleep mode on September 3 due to moon setting. Earlier, Pragyan Rover was sent into sleep mode due to battery discharge.
ISRO Director Nilesh Desai said on Thursday that sunrise on the Moon has started from September 20. Therefore, now Vikram Lander and Pragyan Rover of Chandrayaan-3 will be activated once again. With this, the solar panels present in the lander and rover will be recharged. Both were kept in sleep mode since September 3.
He told that as per the plan, the rover and lander will be revived on September 23. Along with this, it is also being considered how much it can withstand the temperature of -120 to -200 C at night.
He expressed hope that we have four sensors on the lander and two on the rover, and some of them can work. Because of this our experiment will move forward. We will be able to get more experimental data.
It is noteworthy that Chandrayaan-3’s lander ‘Vikram’ had successfully landed on the lunar surface at 6 pm on August 23.
