Gopeshwar, 24 October: The doors of Badrinath Dham will be closed for winter on November 18 at 3.33 pm. Similarly, the doors of Kedarnath Dham will also be closed on November 15 whereas the doors of Gangotri Dham will be closed a day before on November 14.
The doors of Yamunotri, the first Dham among the four Dhams located in Uttarakhand, will be closed on November 15 at 11.57 am on the occasion of Bhai Dooj.
Note 1: As per the legends, Lord Vishnu started meditating here, unaware of cold weather; thus, Goddess Lakshmi took the form of Badri tree (called ‘ber’ in Hindi), to protect him from the biting cold.
Note 2: As per the legends, the Pandavas, built this temple to atone their sins, and is one of the 12 Jytorlingas in the country.
Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) President Ajendra Ajay said that in a function organized in the Badrinath temple complex on the occasion of Vijayadashami on Tuesday, in the presence of religious priests, pilgrim priests and rights holders, the date of closure of the doors was determined after the Panchang calculation. Thousands of devotees were present at the Dham to witness this ceremony.
This year the doors of Shri Badrinath Dham were opened for the devotees on April 27. During the current Yatra period, till now a record 16 lakh devotees have had darshan of Lord Badri Vishal.
Secretary of Yamunotri Temple Committee, Suresh Uniyal said that on Tuesday, on the day of Vijayadashami, Panda and Tirtha priests of Yamunotri Dham have made the above announcement after calculating the Panchang.
