‘Charpai’ caught fire due to candle, siblings burnt alive

Mirzapur, 13 November: Siblings burnt alive due to a fire caused by a candle kept near their ‘Charpai’ (4 wood legs,coir-matted cot) on Monday morning at Sonvarsha village under Rajgarh police station area in Mirzapur, said police.

According to the police, both the children were sleeping on the cot. The children were alone at home as their parents had left for work.

Dablu Kol, son of Moti Kol, resident of Sonavarsha village and his wife had gone out of the house for daily work, leaving their one year old son and three year old daughter sleeping on the cot. The candle burning near the cot fell on the cot and the fire engulfed the two sleeping children, police said.

On receiving the information, the police immediately took the burnt children to Primary Health Center (PHC) Lalganj for treatment. After first aid, the doctor saw the serious condition of the children and referred them to the divisional hospital, where the doctors declared siblings brought dead.

Area Officer Operation Anil Kumar Pandey said that two children have died due to burn injuries in the fire. Rajgarh Police is engaged in advance action.
