New Delhi, 03 September: Chinese Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe has requested a meeting with Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in Moscow during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting. If that happens, it will be the highest level of dialogue with China amidst ongoing tension with India in eastern Ladakh.
The two defense ministers are currently in Moscow to attend the SCO defense ministers’ meeting.
Apart from India, China and Russia, its member countries are Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
India also received a request from China to meet Rajnath Singh when he visited Moscow for the Victory Day celebrations earlier this year. However there was no meeting at that time.
Earlier India has said that China is directly responsible for the worsening of the situation in East Ladakh during the last four months.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anurag Shrivastava said in a press conference on Thursday that the situation in eastern Ladakh on the border for the last four months is clear that unilateral action by the Chinese side to change the status quo is directly responsible. China’s action is a violation of bilateral agreements and agreements that led to peace and normalcy during the last three decades.
