Chinese national detained for illegally crossing Indo-Nepal border in UP

Lucknow, 3 Dec: According to police, a Chinese citizen was detained in Rupaideha, Uttar Pradesh, after she was captured unlawfully crossing the Indo-Nepal border. The woman, who was reportedly attempting to illegally cross the border into Nepal disguised as a Buddhist monk, was apprehended on Saturday by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) officers, they claimed.

According to a senior SSB officer, the woman had a Nepalese visa on her Chinese passport that was valid from November 19, 2023, to February 16, 2024, and verified her arrival at Nepal’s Tribhuvan Airport.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the reason for her arrival and leave from India. Details of her journey in India are also being investigated, according to the official.

According to the official, the SSB has filed a complaint against the Chinese woman at the Rupaideha police station under Section 4(A) of the Foreigners Act, and the accused is being questioned.
