Lucknow, 23 August: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday asked the officials to work on a mission mode to prevent spread of Lumpy Skin Disease Virus (LSDV) in animals. He ordered ban on cattle fairs and interstate transport of animals.

In a high-level meeting on Tuesday, Adityanath issued guidelines on prevention of lumpy virus in animals, Covid-19 spread and reviewed the situation of crimes against women and children.

CM Yogi said, in recent times, cows have been affected by the most contagious lumpy virus and the infection has caused widespread livestock loss in several states. To stop its spread in the state, “we have to work on a mission mode”. Organizing cattle fairs in the state should be postponed till the situation becomes normal, he said adding that farmers should be given complete information about the symptoms and treatment of infection. According to the need, the entry of animals from the bordering states of the state should be banned. Entry of unnecessary people into cow shelters should be banned, he said.

Special vaccination campaign for animals is necessary for protecting them against lumpy virus, the CM said. Support will also be received from the Government of India for the availability of the vaccine. This is a virus spread by flies and mosquitoes. In such a situation, a special cleanliness campaign should be conducted in villages and cities in coordination with the Department of Rural Development, Urban Development and Animal Husbandry. In case of death of the infected animal, the cremation should be done following the protocol. Ensure that under no circumstances, infection spreads, he said.

The CM further said that the state of Uttar Pradesh has effectively controlled the spread of coronavirus with the successful implementation of trace, test , treat and vaccination strategy. To provide additional protection against Covid-19 infection, ‘Amrit Dose’ (booster/precaution dose) is being administered. The weekly mega campaign of booster dose is being organized across the state. Last Sunday, more than 19 lakh people took the booster doses. More than 2 crore people have taken their booster dose in the state till now. The campaign should be intensified further.

In the wake of the rains, there is a possibility of outbreak of many diseases. The daily OPD records in hospitals show that viral/seasonal diseases are on the rise. The health department and medical education department should immediately check the availability of medicines in all government hospitals, super specialty hospitals, medical colleges, the presence of doctors, and the functioning of testing equipment. The doctor should be available in the OPD on time. In case of any such complaints, action should be taken by taking immediate cognizance, Yogi said.

He asked the senior officers that there is a need to take swift action in cases of crimes against women and children. Such issues are sensitive, so it is necessary to deal with them on priority. The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police must review the pending cases of crime against women and children. Concerted efforts have to be made for the prosecution to be effective. Not a single criminal should be spared, the CM added.
