Lucknow, 18 Aug: Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, expressed his displeasure on Thursday with the unnecessary delays in development projects and warned that negligence of any kind will not be tolerated. During a review of the status of various development projects, the chief minister warned officials that any negligence in public-interest work would not be tolerated. An official release issued here stated that if any wrongdoing, corruption, or unnecessary delay is reported, the accountability of the additional chief secretary/principal secretary/secretary level officers involved will be fixed. After reviewing the important projects being developed in all 18 divisions of the state, the CM requested a detailed report from Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra.

He also requested that the additional chief secretary (finance) prepare a detailed report on the project-wise budgets distributed to departments over the last five months, as well as the details of the expenditure incurred so far and the remaining amount. According to the release, the chief minister will review the project-specific work again next week. Adityanath emphasised the importance of ensuring transparency and quality in development projects, as well as encouraging healthy competition in the selection of agencies to carry them out. The CM stated that given the importance of the project, it would be appropriate to give the central agencies an opportunity, and directed the chief secretary to make efforts in this regard.

He stated that in order to ensure transparency and fairness, the organisation preparing the DPR for development projects should not participate in the tender process for project implementation/construction. In reviewing the construction of state universities, the chief minister stated that the government is establishing many universities to provide quality higher education to the youth.

The government’s top priority is this project, and construction work should be monitored continuously, according to the CM, who added that no project’s budget would be revised.

“Before we begin a project, we must make a final decision on all points,” he explained. Directives were also issued to complete the Solid Waste Management Project in the Ghaziabad district’s Loni municipality by September 15.

Taking note of the stumbling block in the four-lane bridge project in Ghaziabad’s Mandaula Vihar area, Adityanath directed the chief secretary to devise a permanent solution in consultation with officials from the UP State Bridge Corporation.
