Lucknow, August 1: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday transferred Rs 1,200 per student to bank accounts of 1.91 crore children’s parents of Basic Education Department to buy school dress, shoes, stockings and other materials. Teachers were also honored on this occasion.
Chief Minister gave a pledge to the teachers present in the program organized at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan to shape the future of the children.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the maximum impact of Covid-19 was on education, that too, on basic education. The government tried its level best, he said, Doordarshan started the course. Online education was started but in Uttar Pradesh there were a large number of children whose financial condition was not good, he added. In the absence of tablet, laptop, phone and internet, they could not study online, he said that in these situations when the School Chalo Abhiyan started, the number reached 1.91 crore. School bags, shoes, stockings, copy-books, stationery were arranged for these children.
He said that the condition of the schools was very pathetic, at some places it was not certain whether they were school or a garden. Where there were students, there were no teachers, if there were teachers, there were no students, he continued, if both of these were there, then there was no building. There was no arrangement of drinking water for the children, Yogi said, no one wanted to send their children here. At that time we started a campaign, he said, public representatives, officials, institutions, panchayats adopted schools. School conditions changed. In the last five years, the department has grown its confidence. The increasing number of children is proof of this.
The Chief Minister said that 1.62 lakh teachers were deployed. Apart from the central and state government, public representatives, officials and village panchayats adopted the schools together, today those schools are visible. Yogi said, he remembers 60 to 70 per cent of the girls were forced to go to school barefoot. He said there were such a large number of children as well. Yogi informed the children were given stationery including school uniforms, shoes, socks by the government. Today, the boys and girls of the Basic Education Council feel proud of themselves, he said, their confidence has increased. Now people want to educate their children here, Yogi added.
Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh said that every child has the right to get education. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi, funds are being sent for the children studying in basic schools. With this money, shoes, socks, clothes, copies, books will be bought for the children, he said, this amount is being sent to the account of the parents. He said, in 2017, there were 1.52 crore children in basic schools. Today the number of 1.91 crore children has reached through the School Chalo campaign. All this is possible with the contribution of the teachers, he said.
Child Development and Nutrition Minister Baby Rani Maurya, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay, Secondary Education Minister Gulabdevi, Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Aradhana Shukla and other officials were present on the ocassion.
