New Delhi, February 15: The anti-coronavirus vaccine Corbevax may soon get emergency approval for children and adolescents aged 12 to 18 years across the country. This vaccine is completely indigenous.
According to the Union Health Ministry officials, the Subject Related Expert Committee (SEC) of the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) recommended emergency use of Biologics E of Corbevax for the age group of 12 to 18 years with certain conditions.
It is expected that the DCGI can also approve its emergency use in a day or two. After which it can be given to the children.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Dr NK Arora, chairman of the National Technical Advisory Group (NTAGI) working group on vaccination, said that Corbevax is a safe vaccine.
โThe antibody levels of this vaccine is also very high. Overall, Corbevax is a very useful vaccine.Like other vaccines in India, it has to be taken in two doses. The second dose has to be taken after 28 days,โ he said. ย
Dr NK Arora added that Corbevax indigenous vaccine is completely safe.
