Corona curfew in Delhi: First weekend curfew in Delhi from 10 pm tonight

New Delhi, 07 January: Due to surging of coronavirus threat in the capital, the Delhi government has announced to impose a weekend curfew. The first weekend curfew will be imposed on this Saturday-Sunday.

During this time only employees and vehicles engaged in essential services will be allowed to move. Action will be taken by the police against those who step out of the house unnecessarily. The police have appealed to the people not to leave the house unnecessarily.

On January 5, a meeting of DDMA was held under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal. In this meeting, it was agreed to impose a weekend curfew.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had announced the imposition of weekend curfew.

Accordingly, the first weekend curfew will be imposed on January 8 and 9. For this, from the Delhi Government to the Delhi Police, all preparations have been made. Due to the first weekend curfew, the emphasis of the police will be on convincing the people, but people who come out of the house unnecessarily will also be slapped fines.

The cases of corona infection are increasing rapidly across the country including the capital. The infection rate in Delhi has gone above 15 percent. The government is not in favour of imposing a lock-down yet, but it has been decided to impose a weekend curfew to reduce the pace of infection.

People engaged in essential services will be exempted from movement during the weekend curfew. Similarly, vehicles engaged in the supply of essential commodities will also be allowed to go. There will be a complete curfew in Delhi from 10 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday. An FIR will be registered against those violating curfew under section 188 of IPC.

These people will be able to travel during weekend curfew

Officers engaged in essential services will be able to travel during the weekend curfew by showing their I-cards. Judicial officers and advocates will be able to travel by showing the I-card or by showing the permission letter issued by the court. Employees working in the offices of diplomats will be able to move by showing their I-cards. All private medical persons like doctors, nursing staff, paramedical, hospital staff, lab staff, clinic staff, and medical service people will be able to travel by showing their ID cards. In this sequence, pregnant women and patients will be allowed to go, for which they will have to carry the documents of the doctor.

Similarly, those who are going to get the Covid test done or are going to get the vaccine, they will also be able to show their relevant documents. People going to airport, railway station and bus stand will be able to move by showing tickets. Movement will be allowed by showing I card to electronic and print media. Students participating in the examination will be allowed to move by showing the admit card of the examination, the employees going to give duty in the examination will also be allowed to leave by showing the ID card.

In the same way, people going to the wedding ceremony will have to show the wedding card in soft or hard copy form. Markets will remain closed but only essential commodities like ration and medicine shops will be allowed to open. Metro will run with 100 percent capacity in Delhi Metro but standing travel will not be allowed. Buses will also be allowed to run with 100% seating capacity.
