Nagpur, December 27: India’s first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bus has been built in Nagpur under the Pollution Free India campaign. Soon Bio-LNG plants will be set up at Masala in Bhandara district and Bio-LNG plants at LNG stations at Nagpur and Raipur.
Sharing information about this, Manas Agro Director Samay Bansod said that India’s first LNG bus running on liquefied natural gas has been made in Nagpur. Mahindra company that this bus originally ran on diesel. However, GoBus has converted a diesel-powered bus to an LNG-powered one at a cost of around Rs 11 lakh. This bus is currently the center of attraction in the ongoing Agro Vision Agriculture Exhibition in Nagpur.
Notably in this agriculture exhibition a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Manas Agro and Lifinity Bio-Energy, under which Bio-LNG plants will be set up at Masala in Bhandara district. In addition, Bio-LNG plants will be set up at LNG stations at Nagpur in Maharashtra and Raipur in Chhattisgarh. As a result, the availability of LNG fuel in central India will now increase rapidly.
Samay Bansod told, in future, in Vidarbha, operating trucks and buses on biofuels like LNG instead of diesel will help in reducing pollution by saving fuel.
