Court extends Manish Sisodia’s judicial custody till June 2 in Delhi excise scam case

New Delhi, May 12: Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has extended the judicial custody of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia till June 2 in a CBI-related Delhi Excise scam case. The court also fixed June 2 as the date of hearing on the matter of taking cognizance of the charge sheet filed by the CBI.

Today Manish Sisodia’s judicial custody in this case was ending, after which he was produced in the court. The CBI had filed a supplementary charge sheet in this case on April 25 in Delhi. CBI has also charged Manish Sisodia in this case. Besides Manish Sisodia, Buchi Babu, Arjun Pandey and Amandeep Dhall have also been named in the supplementary charge sheet. Buchi Babu, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister KC Rao, K. Kavita has been a CA. Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on 26 February.

The CBI had filed the first charge sheet on November 25, 2022. On December 15, 2022, the court, taking cognizance of the charge sheet, framed charges against the accused under Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 7, 7A and 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. These accused are Kuldeep Singh, Narendra Singh, Vijay Nair, Abhishek Boinapalli, Arun Ramachandra Pillai, Muthu Gautam and Sameer Mahendru.
