Covid-19 3rd wave: 2038 fresh cases of corona infection in UP in 24 hours

Lucknow, 05 January: Additional Chief Secretary Medical and Health Amit Mohan Prasad informed that on Tuesday, a total of one lakh 92 thousand 430 corona samples were tested in single day across the state out of which 2038 new cases of coronavirus infection have been reported.

He said that in the last 24 hours, 51 people totalling 16 lakh 88 thousand 58 people have been cured of Covid-19. There are a total of 5158 active cases of corona in the state.

Prasad told that the work of Covid inoculation is being done daily. On January 4, 13 lakh 78 thousand 906 doses were administered in a single day in the state. The first dose of 12 crore 93 lakh 95 thousand 69 has been given to the eligible people across the state. This is 87.7 percent of the people above the age of 18 years. The second dose is seven crore 54 lakh 36 thousand 155 which is 51.17 percent of people above 18 years of age. So far, a total of 20 crore 48 lakh 31 thousand 224 doses have been given to people above 18 years.

He said that so far the first dose of four lakh 60 thousand 237 vaccines has been given to the children of 15 to 18 years. This is about 3.28 percent of their estimated number.

Schools will be closed till 10th in the districts only if there are more than one thousand cases

He further said that two important orders have been issued in view of Covid-19. According to the first order, the children have been provided with the facility of leave on the day of vaccination and the next day. If vaccination centers are set up in schools, then a holiday will be given on the next day of immunization. According to the second order, all educational institutions up to class 10 will be closed in the districts where there will be over one thousand active cases of Covid. Night curfew will be applicable from 10 pm to 06 am.

โ€œApart from this, people coming to the zoo, memorial etc. will be checked by setting up Covid Help Desk. Hotels, food points, cinema halls will operate with 50 percent capacity. At present, there are more than 1000 active cases of Covid in Gautam Budh Nagar itself whereas there are less than 10 active cases of coronavirus in 33 districts of the state.

Prasad apprised that a new guideline has been issued by the Government of India (GOI) regarding home isolation. Accordingly, the period of home isolation has been increased to seven days. He asked the people not to be panic or get scared on any kind of misleading news related to Covid.

He told the people that everyone must get their Covid vaccination done. Those who have taken the first dose should take their second dose on time. He said that the hospitalization of new patients of Covid is negligible. Testing and treatment of Covid is being done free of cost at government centers.
