Lucknow, 13 December; During a routine checking on Asti Road of BKT late on Thursday night, police and motorcycle riding criminals had an encounter. One criminal was caught while his companion managed to flee from the spot. A reward of twenty-five thousand rupees was on the head of the caught criminal.
Giving this information on Friday, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police North said that BKT Inspector in-charge was performing a routine checks on Asti Road late on Thursday night. During this time, two youths riding a motorcycle turned back and started running after seeing the police. When the police chased them on suspicion, the youths started firing at the police team.
While running away, the high-speed bike went out of control and fell. Both the youths fell. During this, the police caught one youth while the other managed to escape.
On interrogation by the police station in-charge, the youth caught has told his name as Amit Kumar Rastogi, resident of Kaushalpuri Chota Bharwara of Gomti Nagar Extension. The police have recovered a pistol, jewellery and cash from him. Amit Kumar has been sent to the hospital for treatment after being injured. The field unit was called to collect evidence.
According to the police, the name of the person who escaped is Rahul Gautam. 24 cases are registered against both the accused. The police has announced a reward of 25 thousand rupees each on them.
