Lucknow, June 2: A known criminal with a ₹50,000 bounty on his head was killed in an encounter with police in UP’s Ghaziabad district on Friday, authorities said.
According to them, two policemen were also hurt in the exchange of fire. Monu Choudhury of Ghaziabad’s Muradnagar neighbourhood was slain in a shootout with police.
Prashant Kumar, Special Director General of Police (Law and Order), stated two policemen were injured during the operation. Choudhury was sought in connection with two killings in Ghaziabad in the previous two months, with a reward of ₹50,000.
According to him, a total of 12 cases, including murder, plunder, and extortion, have been filed against him. Kumar stated that Ghaziabad police had attached properties of his gang members worth ? 29 crore under the Gangsters Act.
