Lucknow, 2 May: The high-octane campaign for the first-phase of Uttar Pradesh’s urban local body elections ended on Tuesday, with the governing BJP and opposition parties pulling out all the stops to win voters.

On the final day of the campaign, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav travelled to different locations to interact directly with voters, and they traded barbs. At 6 p.m., the campaign came to an end.

According to the State Election Commission, voters in 37 districts will vote on Thursday to elect 7,593 members, including 10 mayors and 820 corporators, in the first phase. The second round of voting will take place on May 11.
