Saharanpur, 14 Feb: Darul Uloom, an Islamic educational institution in Deoband, said on Wednesday that its ‘Ulemas’ will not meet with political party leaders or photograph them until the Lok Sabha elections.
Ashraf Usmani, spokesperson for Darul Uloom Deoband, stated that the decision was made at the order of the institution’s ‘Mohtamim’ (leader) Abul Qasim Noman.
According to Usmani, Deoband Darul Uloom judgments are followed by crores of people across the country. During elections, numerous political figures visit Darul Uloom, take photographs with Ulemas, and disseminate them on social media to entice votes. Nomani stated that Darul Uloom will not endorse any political party during elections since every person has the right to vote and should vote in accordance with their own convictions in the best interests of the country.
Darul Uloom does not intend to take any action that might influence voters of a specific faith, according to Nomani. On normal days, leaders are welcomed at Darul Uloom; but, due to the upcoming elections, the Ulemas of Darul Uloom will not welcome or meet with any representative or leader of any political party, according to the spokesman.
