Noida, 16 Sept: Officials said four additional labourers died on Saturday after a service elevator crashed at an under-construction society in Noida Extension, bringing the total death toll to eight.
On Friday morning, a lift carrying nine workers plummeted from the 14th story of an under-construction skyscraper at an Amrapali Dream Valley project site in Noida Extension, also known as Greater Noida (West). The state-run NBCC is completing the long-stalled project.
“Four employees were killed in the Friday tragedy. Five of them were sent to the local hospital in critical condition. Four more workers have died as a result of their injuries, while one worker is still being treated,” District Magistrate Manish Verma said.
According to authorities, a FIR has been filed at the local Bisrakh Police Station, and nine persons have been charged for carelessness and culpable murder, among other charges, in connection with the case. The district administration and the Greater Noida Authority have both begun investigations into the incident.
