Decision on Wednesday to bring Covid-19 vaccine to India from Russia and other countries

New Delhi, August 11: The news of the first coronavirus vaccine developed in Russia has intensified the purchase of vaccine in India too.

In the event of vaccination in other countries including Russia, there is going to be an important meeting of the expert committee on bringing and distributing the vaccine in India.

The Expert Committee will meet on Wednesday under the chairmanship of VK Paul, Member of the NITI Aayog to consider the implementation and ethical aspects of procurement and management of National Expert Group on Vaccine Administer Corona Vaccine.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said in a press conference on Tuesday that the committee on vaccine management will work with all stakeholders including state governments and vaccine manufacturers. After developing the vaccine, this committee will formulate strategies on aspects of its management, distribution and cold chain implementation and to prioritize training the vaccines.

“Along with this, India will also consider getting vaccines made abroad. Although the Health Secretary did not say anything clearly on the question of bringing the vaccine prepared in Russia to India, but stressed on considering all aspects of the vaccine issue,” Union Health Secretary added.  

Rajesh Bhushan said that the team of experts will sit on Wednesday, which will decide on all aspects.
