Rampur, 27 November: Levelling charges on the police regarding Rampur Assembly by-poll, SP leader Azam Khan, said that the police on behalf of BJP are threatening residents of the city by entering their houses.

Azam Khan said that police are threatening people that their houses will be vacated if they vote for the SP.

?The police have not spared my wife, who is a former MP and former MLA. The police have told them to remain inside their houses. If such elections are to be held, then the Election Commission should declare the BJP candidate as the winner,? he said.

Azam Khan, who is ineligible for voting in the assembly elections, released a video message of about one and a half minutes before the media on Sunday. Khan has expressed apprehensions of a major disturbance in the assembly by-elections too. “We will ask Akhilesh Yadav to request the Election Commission to declare Akash Saxena, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate from here, as the winner even before the by-elections to be held in Rampur on December 5. When Akhilesh Yadav comes, we will request him to request the Election Commission to declare BJP’s candidate as the winner. Where is the election happening here? There is an atmosphere of panic everywhere.”

Khan said that there is a lot of pressure on party’s candidate Asim Raja. The party workers are also being stopped from campaigning.

He alleged that on Saturday night the police broke the doors of 50 houses and misbehaved with women. He said that SP national president Akhilesh Yadav, RLD president Jayant Chaudhary and Chandrashekhar of Bhim Aami will come for the by-election to be held on Rampur assembly seat.

Azam said why are they coming to Rampur when elections are not being held here. Here the police has created an atmosphere of terror.

He said that indecent behaviour with women does not suit to any system. He appealed to the people of Rampur that don’t save me. “I am a convict, I cannot contest elections. I don’t even have the right to vote. But save your names because of which you are known.”

Azam said that this is neither sarcasm nor an advice.
