New Delhi, June 11: Mohammed Kalim, a Delhi Police suspect in a suspected conversion racket at Turkman Gate Night Shelter, would show Hindu adolescents YouTube videos of his religion and challenge their beliefs.

Furthermore, he would pressure people into abandoning their beliefs. Before they began their task, the accused forced several Hindu youths to recite religious texts. “The mode of operation is the same as in Ghaziabad, where victims were shown YouTube videos and asked to recite religious verses before beginning any work,” a source said. Kalim had also attempted to bribe the victim in the present case, Sandeep Sagar.

The accused promised him a one-lakh-rupee-a-month salary, a government position, and marriage arrangements if he converted to Islam.

For four years, Sagar had worked as a caretaker at the Night Shelter near Delhi Gate, where Kalim persuaded him to convert to Islam. “Kalim began harassing me incessantly.

Before I started working, he would sometimes demand money, and other times he would compel me to repeat religious slogans/verses that were not from my religion. I filed a complaint at Police Station Daryaganj, but Kalim apologised and I forgave him,” according to the FIR.

Kalim further stated that he intended to preach Hindu-Muslim unity and would never engage in such activities, and the victim withdrew his case as a result. Kalim, on the other hand, refused to change his methods, and Sagar was relocated to Turkman Gate Night Shelter. Feroz and Zeeshan, two people, used to dwell at night shelter.

Mohammed Kalim would go to Turkman Gate Night Shelter to meet Feroz and Zeeshan. The three would raise funds for Madrasa. “Kalim also forced me to watch specific YouTube videos here.

He said that there are no virtues in Hinduism. Kalim showed me religious films on YouTube and claimed that Hinduism had no unique characteristics.

He exposed the faults of Hinduism using videos. He also promised to arrange a marriage for me if I converted to Islam. I was also promised one lakh rupees per month and a government job if I did what he said,” Sagar claimed in the FIR. Kalim had also forced two Hindu youths, Sujit Kumar and Vicky Sharma, to convert to Islam, according to Sagar.

Kalim informed them that Hinduism has problems and worked hard to attract them into his trap. Sagar further claims that Kalim recently converted a Hindu teenager called Sanjeet Kumar to Islam. Sanjeet has changed his name to Abbas. “Mohd Kalim recently filed a false case against me in Kamla Market in order to put pressure on me.”

He has made improper statements about my religion, insulted my religious feelings, and tried to persuade me to change to Muslim faith, which I will no longer allow. I had hoped that Mohd Kalim would change his ways, but his acts have remained unsatisfactory. In the FIR, the victim claims, “I request that you take appropriate legal action in this regard.”

Kalim, a B.Tech graduate in computer science, was detained on Sunday, according to authorities.

More arrests are expected in the investigation, according to authorities. A special team is investigating the situation.

“We received a complaint from Sandeep Sagar, a resident of Turkman Gate, alleging that Mohammed Kalim was enticing and pressuring him to convert to Muslim religion,” a police official stated. The police performed a preliminary investigation after receiving the complaint and discovered prima facie evidence supporting the charges.

As a result, the police filed a FIR at the Chandni Mahal Police Station under sections 153-A and 295-A of the Indian Penal Code. On Saturday night, Kalim was apprehended. “We arrested Mohammed Kalim, who was remanded to 14 days in judicial custody after appearing in court.”
