New Delhi, 22 December: The Delhi High Court has dismissed a petition filed against Indian flights operating from domestic terminals and allowing Sikh airport staff to carry kirpans within the stipulated limit. A bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma gave this decision.
The court had reserved the verdict on December 15. The petition stated that such permission can become a cause of danger for the air travelers. The petition challenged the March 4 and March 12 orders of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
The petition stated that this order amounts to a breach in the security of air travel. It has been said in this order that the total length of the saber should not exceed 9 inches. The order stated that the total length of the blade of the saber should not exceed 6 inches.
