Delhi LG nods to prosecute 10 cops in fraud case

New Delhi, 29 Oct: Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has approved the prosecution of ten Delhi Policemen in connection with the misappropriation of Rs 2.44 crore in government funds, according to a Raj Niwas announcement on Sunday.

On October 1, 2019, the Delhi Police’s economic offences wing (EOW) filed a FIR against two women sub-inspectors, three head constables, and five constables assigned to the Outer District on accusations of cheating, criminal conspiracy, and criminal breach of trust.

Head constables Vijender Singh, Viju PK, Anand Kumar, and constables Krishan Kumar, Anil Kumar, Ravinder, Sanjay Dahiya, and Rohit were among those charged. According to the statement, they have been accused with stealing Rs 2.44 crore for personal use.

The Home Department stated in their request for approval to prosecute these policemen that in their disclosure statements, Krishan, Vijender Singh, Anil Kumar, and Meena Kumari “admitted” to embezzling government cash.

The Delhi Police Department has already fired Krishan Kumar, Vijender Singh, Anil Kumar, and Meena Kumari under Article 311(2)(b) of the Constitution. According to the statement, the EOW has filed a charge sheet against the four.
