Lucknow , 21 Dec: On Wednesday morning, a thick fog engulfed various areas in Uttar Pradesh, with residents across districts bracing for a severe cold with decreasing night temperatures. According to the Meteorological Centre in Lucknow, most locations in the state’s eastern and western regions saw fog in the morning and a dip in temperature.

The daytime temperature has dropped significantly in the state’s Moradabad and Meerut divisions during the previous 24 hours. Daytime temperatures fell in Prayagraj, Bareilly, Moradabad, Ayodhya, Kanpur, and Bareilly as well. Fursatganj had the lowest temperature in the state in the previous 24 hours, plunging to 4.9 degrees Celsius.

Over the next 24 hours, severe fog is anticipated in Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Sant Kabir Nagar, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Amroha, and Bijnor in the morning and evening. There’s a chance the cold will go away.

Suryapal Gangwar, District Magistrate of Lucknow, modified school hours for pupils up to Class 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The UP State Road Transport Corporation has previously been directed to cease night bus services owing to the increased risk of accidents caused by fog.
