Uttarkashi, 23 November: The rescue operation to rescue the workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel is continuing on a war footing. The rescue team was successful last Wednesday itself, but about three feet of the last pipe in front of the escape tunnel was slightly bent, efforts are on to cut it.
After that the 800 mm pipe has to be pushed on the basis of correct alignment.
After taking out the workers from the tunnel, the district administration has finalized all the necessary preparations. A large number of ambulances are also present outside the tunnel. Along with this, medical team and other support personnel have been deployed.
There is hope of 41 laborers trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel of Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, getting out soon.
The American auger machine has drilled the entire 60 meters from the entry point of the tunnel. The last 800 mm (about 32 inches) pipe is being inserted inside the tunnel.
According to the information, Chinook helicopter will land at Chinyalisaur airport. It will be used if there is a need to airlift workers. On the other hand, AIIMS hospital located in Rishikesh has also been kept on alert.
Rescue team remained on guard outside the tunnel throughout the night
NDRF, SDRF, police and other paramedical teams engaged in the rescue operation have been standing at the front throughout the night in the extreme cold. The rescue team remained dependent on fire amid the severe cold.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is camping in Uttarkashi since Wednesday, giving impetus to the rescue operation to bring out 41 workers trapped in the tunnel for the last 12 days.
The convoy of the Chief Minister, who is staying at the ITBP Guest House, is ready and he can move to Uttarkashi anytime.
