Prayagraj, 12 Nov: Naini Aerospace Limited (NAL), which manufactures looms (electrical wiring harnesses) and stub wings (part of a wing on certain aircraft that lies next to the fuselage) for the Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA), will soon train young people to fly drones, which have multiple applications in various industries.
“Drone pilots will be taught on the unit’s grounds in Naini, and the training will begin by the end of January or February next year,” said Amit Mai Shrivastava, chief executive officer of Naini Aerospace. “We have begun planning to establish a separate training centre for drone pilots that will span around 10 acres,” he added.
Ritesh Singh, the company’s human resource head, stated, “We believe that the use of drones is not limited only to photography. Their application in various sectors, whether for the delivery of medicines and other essential items in remote areas or for various uses in agriculture and defense, necessitates the use of expert pilots. We will provide expert assistance.”
“We have signed a memorandum of understanding with Empyrean robotic technology of Prayagraj to collaborate and make the ambitious project of remote pilot training organisation (RPTO) a success,” NAL CEO said. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at the Defence Expo 2022 in Gandhinagar.
He went on to say that a committee of experts was debating the course curriculum, number of seats, and fees. “However, we hope that young people who have completed intermediate school will be able to participate in the short-term course, which could last two weeks. Those with a scientific background are preferred,” he adds.
He stated that a licence will be obtained from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) after meeting all of the requirements to open the training center. Furthermore, the length of the course would be determined by the size of the drone used to train these aspiring professional drone pilots. According to the CEO, Shrivastava, NAL would make looms for Dornier aircrafts, which are primarily used to patrol the Indian coastline.
NAL has already been awarded the contract to produce looms for Dornier aircraft. Dornier aircraft were previously manufactured on looms in Kanpur. Dornier aircraft fly much lower than fighter and general aviation aircraft due to their smaller size. This aircraft is used to patrol the sea-border.
