Lucknow, July 8: Droupadi Murmu, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), visited Lucknow to rally support for the July 18 presidential elections.
Murmu also paid floral homage to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Lucknow’s Lok Bhawan.
Droupadi Murmu also attended a meeting at the Lok Bhavan with Bharatiya Janata Party MPs and MLAs. Yogi Adityanath, deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, and key ministers from the Uttar Pradesh government were also present.
Earlier, the 64-year-old presidential contender was greeted with a resounding welcome at the Lucknow airport. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister, and his deputy, Keshav Prasad Maurya, met him at the airport.
Murmu had before visited her home state of Odisha, when chief minister Naveen Patnaik met her for lunch at his mansion. Lunch was provided with Odia specialties such as ‘Baigan Bhaja,’ ‘Alu Bharta,’ and ‘Badi Chura,’ according to reports.
