EMU train derails and climbs platform at Mathura Junction

Mathura, 27 September: The EMU train that left from Shakur Basti in Delhi for Mathura Junction on Tuesday derailed and climbed onto the platform before reaching Mathura Junction platform on Tuesday night.

During this, it collided with the electric pole ahead and a major accident was averted. As soon as information was received about the arrival of the train at the adding point on the Delhi side, there was a commotion at the station.

Apart from RPF and GRP, railway officials reached the spot. The technical team came and took charge. About 30 meters of the platform was damaged.

It is notable that after the passengers deboarded the train, it was being shunted and put on the platform to go back to Shakur Basti. During this time the speed of the train suddenly increased. She broke the connecting point and climbed onto platform number two.

Northern Railway’s EMU train number 64910 runs daily from Delhi Shakur Basti station. A large number of daily passengers travel by this train. On Tuesday, the train left Shakur Basti at the scheduled time of 6.20 pm. The train reached Mathura Junction station at 10.49 pm. Here the train was stationed on platform number 2. There was chaos on the spot after seeing the train arriving on the platform.

Passengers started running to save their lives. Due to this, some bags of passengers fell under the train. But when the train stopped after hitting a light pole, people heaved a sigh of relief.

After the accident, the technical team from Agra division of North Central Railway reached Mathura.

With this, the process of removing the train from the platform was started. After the process that lasted till late night, the train was removed from the platform and brought back to the rail track.

Mathura station director SK Srivastava said that all the passengers had already deboarded the train. No one was injured in the accident. A team has been formed to find out the cause of the incident. The train comes from Shakur Basti, the train reached Mathura Junction at 10:49 pm, the speed of the train increased more than the prescribed speed. Due to which the driver could not control and the train climbed onto the platform.

He added that they are investigating the reason for this incident. However, due to this accident, some trains scheduled on the platform have been affected.
