Lucknow, 30 December; Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Amit Verma on Monday directed to keep the security arrangements in view of the programs to be organized at many places in the city on December 31 on the eve of New Year. During this time, the police will keep an eye on those who drive vehicles after drinking alcohol and create ruckus.
Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) has directed all the police officers, station in-charges and beat in-charges of the district to be vigilant on December 31.
He said that on December 31, people celebrate the arrival of the New Year at hotels, clubs, bars etc. In such a situation, it is common to have fights and molestation incidents at these places. Keeping this in mind, police arrangements should be in place. Male and female police personnel should be put on duty in plain clothes. The Police Response Vehicle (PRV) vehicles should patrol deserted places. Vigilance should also be maintained in markets and shopping malls. Police should do checking by putting up barricades at the intersections. Police should deal strictly with drunk driving and hooligans.
Verma further told that on the morning of New Year, there would be crowd of devotees at various religious places. Keeping this in mind, policemen should be put on duty in temples as well. Keep an eye on CCTV cameras. Police should take strict action against those who spread misleading and rumours by keeping an eye on social media. Traffic routes have also been changed.
